Let's face it, green living can be a bit of a challenge. Depending on
how much you are into it, you may do a community service project here
and there, write an article there, or your lifestyle can completely
revolve around it. People, such as Roechelle, have a passion for green
living and intends to spread the good word about the environment. She
intends on doing that not only through her blog, but also in life with her family.Roechelle is a self-employed green living expert who lives in Northern Kentucky with her family. She manages her blog, Hug a Tree with Me, where she spreads eco awareness by means of relevant articles, tips, reviews, and stories. Eco friendly articles can be found on the Eco Articles section of her blog. Her articles include topics such as,
Eco terms every Greenie should Know, where she discusses terms such as Biodegradable and Carbon Footprint, that anyone who supports green living should be familiar with.
Eco craft supplies and alternatives shopping guide, where she discusses some more green alternatives to a lot of the major arts and crafts materials we use and where we can get them.
The Many Benefits of Skin Exfoliation, where she discusses the benefits of skin exfoliation and some products that are good for that.
and her most recent article on Internal Sunscreen-Defending our Skin Internally, where she discusses foods that we can eat that can help our skin defend itself from the sun's natural rays. That doesn't mean stop putting it on as well.
Jessica:Was there something that inspired you to live an Eco Friendly lifestyle or was it just always there for you?
Roechelle: I started to feel a deeper connection to the environment and animals when I started high school, but it wasn't until the birth of my daughter that I actually started living a greener lifestyle 100%, I wanted to raise her with the same environmental connection that I have
Along with her eco articles, Roechelle also has a section of her blog dedicated to opportunities where you can work from home. These are great opportunities for people who just want to stay at home or are self employed. She even tells of her own experiences of how she uses the internet to make money along with some of the websites where you can possibly pick up a job. Whether you are a freelance writer, a blogger or just trying to make some cash selling your stuff, there are opportunities out there.Jessica: How does it feel to be self employed? Have you ever gotten opposition from people about being self employed?
Roechelle: Being self-employed is empowering. I have honestly never worked so hard in my life but working for me is great because I am home with my daughter and make my own hours. I have not gotten much opposition about being self-employed; I mostly get positive questions and kudos
Another section of her blog is dedicated to sweet deals that are out there for anyone who is looking to save some money on eco friendly products or possibly get them for free. Personally, I am one who likes to get free things, so if you are one of them, this section would really help you.
Jessica:Have you ever thought about doing a Recipe's section for those that are vegans and vegetarians?
Roechelle:I actually have thought about it, I started taking pictures and writing down recipes, finding vegan recipes that doesn't require an overuse of soy is really hard, so I intend to post vegan/veggie recipes in the near future.
Just in case you ever need a second opinion or just some advice on a product you used or going to buy in the future, the Reviews/Giveaways section can be of some assistance. Sometimes, we don't want to end up spending a lot of money of something we don't know about. This section can be really helpful to those who want to know more about something before they buy it or they can win it through sweepstakes that are giving them away.
Jessica:I saw that you grew up in Philadelphia, but you moved to Northern Kentucky. How does it feel living in the south rather than a big city? Would you say that it's easier to live an Eco friendly lifestyle in the south or there isn't a difference?
Roechelle:It was and still is a huge transition. Going from the busy city of Philly to the quiet suburb of Northern Kentucky is like night and day but, it is easier to be green here in the south. In the spring and summer months, the farmers markets and roadside fruits and vegetable stands are abundant and handmade craft shows and earth day type festivals are hugely popular.
In addition to blogging, Roechelle is also a freelance
writer, social media guru and a homeschooling mom. There are two other sections of her blog where Roechelle shares about her family and homeschooling her daughter, Jordan. In her Family Tales section, she shares stories about her days growing up and also about her family that she has now. There are a couple of entries entitled, A Toddler Tale, where she discusses random and cute moments with her daughter.
Jessica: I know you do freelance writing, but I was wondering (because I am a writer myself) if you plan on writing any books in the future or no?
Roechelle:I have actually started my first one and hope to be finished by summer of 2012. I intend to write educational children's books and of course Eco-minded type books.
Roechelle has inspired many people to live their lives as eco-friendly as they can. A lot of people can find comfort in her blog, which she updates with a lot of cool things to make your lifestyle that much more enjoyable.Check back on her blog for more exciting things to help make our earth a healthier place to live.
Thank you Roechelle, and keep up the excellent work you do!
