Meet Kimberly Webb, the founder and CEO of Rockin' Green, a company that manufactures clean-rinsing detergent specifically formulated for cloth diapers. Rockin' Green is absolutely eco-friendly, free of harsh chemicals and comes in several yummy scents!

Q (Priyanka): Kim - tell us a little bit about you and your company and how did it all start?
A (Kim): I'm the mom of two little boys, and we all have very sensitive skin. They suffered from constant diaper rash and contact irritation from detergents, so I set out to create something that would work with their sensitive skin but still clean things properly in our hard south Texas water. And Rockin' Green was born!
Q (Priyanka): I like the funky names that you have come up with for all your soaps! Any particular reason for choosing these names?
A (Kim): It's been a collaborative effort in the office. When we come up with a scent that we love, we all sit down and brainstorm ideas. Some of them never make it in the lineup, but there will always be one that everyone agrees on.
Q (Priyanka): Which was the very first Rockin Green soap that you introduced? Do you have a personal favorite soap/scent?
A (Kim): When we started we had the Classic Rock and the Soft Rock formulas, the Hard Rock formula came about 8 months later. I am a Hard Rock Smashing Watermelons girl all the way. It's fantastic!
Q (Priyanka): It must have been quite a journey for you to come this far. What has been your most memorable business experience till now?
A (Kim): Moving into our first office was really cool. We had been packing orders in my kitchen for the first 8 months, so it was really exciting to see our name on the door of our first little warehouse.
Q (Priyanka): You are a mom and an entrepreneur. How do you balance your work life with family time? What advice do you have for moms like you looking to launch a successful career in business?
A (Kim): It's tough! I bring my kids to work, and we have structured our time to work 4 days a week, and have 3 day weekends. It gives me a little more flexibility. My main piece of advice is to work your schedule around your kids. That may mean sending emails during naptime, or checking your facebook page or your phone while watching Dora the Explorer.
Q (Priyanka): What is a typical business day like for you and your family? Being a mother of 2, how do you ensure that your office stays kid-friendly?
A (Kim): We usually wake up around 8 or so, get dressed and the entire family (including our 2 year old basset hound, Olive) hops in the minivan and we head to work. Our employees are allowed to bring their dogs- so at any given time we have 2 kids and 3 dogs running around the office. My boys have a playroom adjacent to my office, and then in our main common room they have a playhouse and can ride on toys and bikes. Everything is kid proof!
Q (Priyanka): What environmentally friendly choices have you made for your home and your business?
A (Kim): My home is paperless, we don't do paper towels, paper napkins...etc. We also choose our produce and meats from local farmers markets whenever possible. We have an energy efficient home, and both of my kids were cloth diapered, just to name a few. For the office, we are about 99% paperless right now, everyone brings their lunches in re-usable containers, they carpool whenever possible, and of course all of our office cleaning is done with Rockin' Green.
Q (Priyanka): Do you have a favorite business figure? Someone you have always looked up to for inspiration?
A (Kim): That's a tough one! I don't think I could name one single person....but I am inspired by women business owners that see a need for change and go out and do it.
Q (Priyanka): What is the future of Rockin Green?
A (Kim): We have many surprises on the horizon!
Q (Priyanka): And to wind up, what is the one thing you would like to say about your product which sets you apart from the rest?
A (Kim): Rockin' Green is changing the face of cleaning. We use natural ingredients, and add in fun scents that really make a boring chore enjoyable!
