Nurseries often boast wall decals and borders that are fun and playful for babies and toddlers to enjoy. However, many of these are made from vinyl or PVC, and use toxic adhesives. Similar to night lights, when looking for a mobile, look for one made of recycled materials! Recycled paper and wood are the best options for mobiles, these materials are safest for your health, however plastic is a great option as well. Instructables has a great step-by-step guide on how to make your own--be sure to use things you already had at home, and recycle old magazines and colorful papers.
When putting together a nursery for your baby, there are many things to consider in order to make it eco-friendly. Yet if it is not in your budget to redo the flooring and paint, or if you just don't want to remodel the room, there are easier steps to take, like buying safe products and accessories. Be sure to choose products made from non-toxic materials, and choosing something that is recycled is always a plus!
